La Costa Blanca

 

The Costa Blanca, is a costal area that goes from “Capo de la Nao” to ” Cabo de Gata” . In this area city as Benidorm, Vila Joyosa and Altea, are areas of cultural and historical interest, as well as beautiful scenery.

 

La Vila Joiosa (popularly known as “La Vila”) is located in the southern district of Marina Baixa, in what is now the povincia of Alicante (Valencia, Spain). This is a fairly isolated from its surroundings by arcs of high mountains that enclose, including the Sierra Aitana are counted coastal territory. South of Villajoyosa a series of flat mountains and ravines difficult communications with the neighboring county of Alacantí is happening.

BENIDORM  It was inhabited by the Iberians from pre-Roman times.. Still in the early fifties of the twentieth century it was a fishing village and craftsmen of modest size that did not reach even the three thousand inhabitants. From the second half of that decade, however, and even more in the sixties, he had a great development of tourism, which is considered one of the centers more ‘popular internationally. It has about 72,000 inhabitants. Among the places of interest there is the Isla de los Benidorm (or Isla de periodistas) a triangular-shaped island called L’Illa or Isla de los Periodistas. A view that delights visitors who can see it every day from the city. There are many mythological stories relate to this island and its origin is traced back to the giant Roldán. Legend has it that Roldán fell in love with a beautiful lady who loved him deeply. The woman became ill and looked like it could survive only thanks to the sun. The desperate giant hit with the force of the Puig Campana mountain to allow light to illuminate for longer his map. Own a piece of this mountain fell into the sea resulting in L’Illa. It is said that the body of the lover of the giant was then transported by it to his eternal rest on the island. Benidorm is with Torremolinos the maximum Spanish tourist center and one of the leading at the European level, thanks to its large coastline, divided into two zones: the Platja de Ponent( West beach) west and Platja de Llevant (Levante Beach) East.
